About the songs
'The Big Bad'
This song is about the 'big baddies'
The people doing the breaking up of relationships always end up as being the big baddies. I wrote this song in an attempt to tell it from the breaker uppers point of view. It is not an easy task, breaking up with someone but sometimes there is just no other solution.
'Leaves'
This song is about losing someone you love.
I started to write this song quite some time ago but had been lucky enough not to have lost anyone that close to me so had trouble finding the right words. It is always easier to write from personal experience. The words just seem to flow when you have something to say.
I tragically lost my gran in January.(The best gran in the world) The song fell into place almost straight away and I was able to finish it. Of course I wish I was never able to do this.
Not long after, we lost a cousin. He was only a few years older than me and also a musician.
This song will never be easy to sing.
'The Heart Of Dartmoor'
I was asked to write a song about the area for a local project and as Dartmoor is so much loved, it seemed a good option.
We often leave Plymouth late at night after performing and pass through the moor to get home.
I can honestly say that when you are up there on a clear night, the stars really are something else!
'Come On Home'
This is the oldest song of my recent recordings. I remember sitting in the dark in my sitting room feeling sorry for myself (Always a good time to pick up your guitar!) I may not have been by the ocean waiting for a wave but it certainly felt that way at the time.
